In the era of public advocacy for environmental protection, brand owners are also actively responding to this concept to shape a good image. Especially for some fast food brands, they produce a large number of disposable items and pay more attention to improving this aspect.
As a fast food giant, McDonald's launched a straw free cup lid two years ago to reduce plastic pollution and respond to environmental protection concepts.
Recently, McDonald's in France has made a new breakthrough in environmental protection, this time launching reusable tableware!
McDonald's in France launches recyclable tableware design!
As is well known, McDonald's packaging is mostly made of paper and plastic materials.
In order to promote the concept of environmental protection, McDonald's hired the French design studio eliumstudio to launch a series of reusable and environmentally friendly tableware, replacing disposable packaging!
Design studio eliumstudio designed environmentally friendly tableware for McDonald's, including potato chip boxes, chicken nugget boxes, beverage cups, and more.
In the design process, in addition to creating sturdy and durable recyclable tableware, eliumstudio also needs to consider incorporating McDonald's classic elements and highlighting brand characteristics.
For example, the classic McDonald's fries box restores the iconic red color to the box and adds a dent texture to the exterior, making it more textured both visually and tactically.
The bottom of the packaging box is engraved with a McDonald's logo shape to enhance the brand's iconic image.
From the perspective of the potato chip box, in terms of color matching and styling design, it can be said that it highly restores the original packaging design.
In terms of material, eliumstudio chooses to use eco-friendly plastic film Tritan, a plastic resin that does not contain bisphenol and can be 100% recycled. It has adjustments that are resistant to high temperatures and falls, and will not cause food to produce odors due to its material.
And the beverage cup has also been replaced with a transparent and corrugated material design. In order to facilitate the operation of staff, cold drinks and hot drinks are distinguished by white and transparent materials, and are divided into three sizes: large, medium, and small.
Overall, the launch of recyclable tableware by McDonald's in France has played a positive role in the industry. After all, as a fast food brand, McDonald's uses disposable packaging for both on-site and takeaway food. It can be imagined how much garbage pollution is generated every day.
The recyclable tableware launched this time actively responds to environmental protection concepts through design. However, it is worth considering that using recyclable tableware also increases labor costs, which depends on how the brand measures it.
